EscapeWish ("we," "our," or "us") operates the EscapeWish web application at escapewish.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By accessing or using EscapeWish, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
User-Generated Content: We store destinations you add, ratings, comments, votes, travel notes, budget information, expense data, and any other content you create within the application.
Geolocation Data: With your explicit consent, we collect your approximate location to personalize flight cost estimates. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time through your browser settings.
Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, timestamps, and achievement activity. This data is used to improve the application.
Device Information: We collect browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and similar technical data for compatibility and analytics purposes.
We use the information we collect to: provide and maintain the EscapeWish service; personalize your experience (such as cover images, AI-generated research, trip itineraries, and price estimates); facilitate collaboration with your travel party members; send in-app notifications about party activity; improve, troubleshoot, and optimize the Service; respond to feedback and support requests; and enforce our Terms of Service.
EscapeWish integrates with the following third-party services:
Google OAuth: We use Google Sign-In for authentication. Google's use of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Anthropic (Claude AI): We send destination names and general travel queries to Anthropic's API to generate research, itineraries, and price estimates. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
Unsplash: We use the Unsplash API to provide cover images for destinations. Unsplash's terms are governed by Unsplash's Privacy Policy.
BigDataCloud: If you grant location permission, we use BigDataCloud's reverse geocoding API to determine your nearest city for flight cost estimates. Only coordinates are sent; no personal identifiers.
Party Members: Content you create (destinations, ratings, comments, votes, suggestions, budget data) is visible to all members of your travel party. This is a core feature of the collaborative planning experience.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
Your data is stored on secured servers. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your account data and user-generated content for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the email address below. Upon account deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict processing of your data; and request portability of your data. EscapeWish is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
